Voluntary surgical contraception as an alternative to LARC-long acting reversible contraception

Abstract

Voluntary surgical contraception (AQV), whether in the form of tubal ligation in women or vasectomy in men, is a definitive method of contraception. The reversibility of both methods is possible only with microsurgery and with a success not greater than 30% 1. Both are well tolerated and most can be performed with sedo-analgesia and local anesthesia. Its effectiveness reaches 99.5% 2, and is used globally by 200 million people3. The main indication is the desire for no more children in the person or the couple.
