Abstract

The changes that occur in the immune system during pregnancy make
the pregnant woman more susceptible to illness, or to the illness being more severe, or to causing severe fetal effects due to certain infections; thus increasing the risk of complications such as premature birth, low birth weight, neonatal infections, etc., making pregnancy one of the most vulnerable periods in terms of maternal, fetal, and neonatal morbidity and mortality.
